To “Shelter in Place” or to “Lock Down” means finding a safe location indoors (or on site) and staying there until you are given an “all clear” or told to evacuate. This procedure is enacted when the option to evacuate is, or may be, too dangerous.
The Shelter In Place procedure is designed to outline when, how and where to Shelter In Place at the workplace when an evacuation is either not possible or not the best option during an emergency situation. This document can be customised for individual sites and buildings. Suits a small / medium sized business.
