Safety Policies & Procedures

Safety Makers can provide you with a range of individual policy and procedure documents required by legislation that are appropriate for your business in your State of operation in Australia and in New Zealand. Ideal if you need to add to your existing safety documentation.

Safety Management Systems

Safety Makers offers you a range of safety managment documentation to use as a framework to assist in your compliance with legislation. The documents we will provide for you include safety policy manuals, forms and registers, and checklists to use as tools to include in your safety management systems.

Our documentation is designed to be user friendly and affordable for Micro and Small/Medium business owners.

We also offer a small range of industry specific safety management systems. These systems are provided in editable formats to enable you to make additions/edits to suit your business needs. For a very reasonable additional fee, we can customise your industry management system for your business. We are happy to discuss your needs and can customise our documentation to comply with any State in Australia and in New Zealand.

Chemical Management Systems

Chemical Management systems designed for businesses storing or handling hazardous chemicals and/or dangerous goods, in particular large quantities or large numbers of chemicals, everything you need to manage chemicals in your workplace. Our Chemical Management Package will include chemical registers, manifests, policies, procedures, and Chemical Risk Assessment documentation to assist you in compliance with regard to current legislation. Chemical Management Packages are custom built for your business needs.

Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)

SWMS look at specific jobs within your business (e.g.: operating plant, work at heights, confined spaces, hazardous manual handling). SWMS include relevant information regarding Codes of Practice, licences, certificates etc.

Please note: Some high risk tasks are required to have a SWMS under relevant legislation in various states and territories.

Safety Makers offers SWMS documents that will cover in detail the following:

Standard Operational Procedures (SOP)

SOP’s look at the safe operation of equipment, plant and machinery.

We will identify any hazards relevant to the operation and detail control measures for specific equipment and plant machinery.

To enable ease of use, these SOP’s give a “dot point” format procedure to follow when using equipment while performing job tasks (e.g. a laboratory assistant may need a SOP for using a microscope).

Safe Work Procedures (SWP)

SWP’s provide guidelines to assist in the safe undertaking of day to day lower risk tasks performed in the workplace.

Our Safety Makers consultants can  develop Safe Work Procedures for tasks commonly performed in your workplace. We also have a small stock of generic Safe Work Procedures available for purchase (e.g. a shop assistant may need a Cash Handling SWP).

Risk Assessments – Job Specific, Plant & Equipment, Chemical

Safety Makers can conduct the following Risk Assessments for specialised job tasks at your business, these include but not limited to:

  • Task specific: hazardous manual handling, cash handling, animal handling
  • Chemical: using Hydrochloric Acid, spraying pesticide
  • Plant & Equipment Risk: operating a forklift, power tools, office equipment
  • Site specific: day care centre, sports venue, cultural event, shop, office
